Growing Up

I can't believe how fast Lucy is growing. I have a picture on my cell phone of her when we first moved to Colorado Springs. She was a chubby little baby with hardly any hair. Now, her hair is down to the base of her neck and she isn't chubby anymore. She is our precious little angel, learning new things everyday. She has been learning how to say lots of new words and animal sounds-"ah, ah, ah" which is quacking like a duck, "Momo" for Elmo, and "dayday" for baby. I have been having lots of fun taking pictures of her as she goes about her business. Who knew1 year olds had so much to do?

  I left the pantry door open, and Lucy found the powdered sugar and marshmallows.

Lucy loves ducks, so I put her duck in the window sill because I wanted to get a picture of her in natural light.

 

 I took this picture right after Lucy sneezed. She looked up and gave me this priceless grin.

  

I finally got Lucy to wear something in her hair!

Our little diva-Lucy has recently started putting her hands up in the air to say "Where did it go?"

Jay's Birthday

My wonderful husband just celebrated another birthday. It was a quiet birthday, but we still enjoyed our celebration. I made homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Jay had to work all day, but when he got off we went to dinner at 3 Margaritas, a yummy Mexican restaurant.

Lucy wasn't too excited about dinner, but she was well behaved-which Mommy and Daddy appreciated!

Since Jay loves popcorn, I made him popcorn cupcakes.

Happy Birthday!

Lucy turned 1 year old!!! She has given up her bottle (I don't even think she misses it) and has started walking. I can't believe how grown up she is. Her sweet personality comes through more each day. She is very inquisitive and eager to try new things-especially new foods. Here is how we celebrated her birthday.

Lucy's favorite breakfast-scrambled eggs and pancakes.

I decorated some balloons to look like the characters from Sesame Street. Lucy enjoyed playing with them.
Jay and I both had bear shaped cakes for our first birthday, so we carried on the tradition.
We put a tablecloth on the floor and let Lucy go for it. She wasn't afraid to touch it, but she didn't get too excited either.
She daintily stuck her finger in the frosting.
Look at how she crosses her feet. What a little lady.

Daddy tried to show her how to bite the ear off, but she still wasn't interested.

The damage.Mom is very sad to say that Lucy didn't have one bite of her delicious strawberry cake! A few licks of frosting were enough.
Lucy really likes rainbow sherbet though. She picked up the whole scoop off her plate with her bare hands and shoved it in her mouth.

Opening presents was fun!Lucy's face after eating a candy bracelet that Grandma Leisa gave her.
Round 2 of opening presents began after dinner. Lucy took opening presents very seriously.

Free Day at Denver Zoo

On Saturday, the Denver Zoo was free! We decided to brave the cold and the crowds. We are glad we did. IT was a lot of fun, and we met up with Jay's sister and her family.

This peacock stole a little girls hamburger bun right off of the table. She said "I don't want to eat it anymore."

Lucy liked watching the elephants.
