Living it up in Colorado Springs

Moving to Colorado Springs has been an adventure, but one that we are not sorry about. We love the beautiful mountains, the green trees all around, and the mild weather (it sprinkles just about every day). We have a lot more time to spend together as a family, and we are growing closer together. Lucy has had several new experiences too and seems to like her new home. She has started to get back on her sleeping schedule. Thank Heavens!!!





Jay is now working at DWG & Associates (picture not shown). He loves working for such a great company and is enjoying his new job! Jay is a project coordinator.



Lucy ate her first cracker the other day. As you can see, she enjoyed it.



Lucy also tried feeding herself bananas, but they were so slippery that she couldn't pick them up.



We took Lucy swimming for the first time in the pool at our apartment complex. There were some little kids splashing in the water, and she couldn't take her eyes off of them. Lucy loved kicking her legs in the water.






After her bath, Lucy was warm in her giraffe robe.


Daddy was having a hard time diapering his squirming little nudist. She looked so cute that we had to take her picture.

Garden of the Gods

We love Colorado Springs. There is a gorgeous park just a few miles from our new house called Garden of the Gods. It has beautiful rock formations. This is one of the first sights we visited after moving here.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

The Saturday after we moved to Colorado Springs, we took a trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The zoo has many hands-on activities for kids and lots of fun exhibits, but feeding the giraffes is by far the coolest thing. Lucy had a cold, and Mommy accidentally got sunscreen in her eyes, so she was not having such a great time. She still looked cute in the outfit that Aunt Laray gave her. Jay stayed home to recuperate from the move before he had to start work the following Monday.




































A zookeeper brought a baby wallaby out to show zoo visitors. Lucy was feeling so poorly that even the cute baby wallaby couldn't cheer her up.

Grandpa was so nice to hold the umbrella up so that the sun wasn't in Lucy's eyes.









The chipmunks at the zoo were darling! They were not afraid of people at all. I was afraid that they were going to crawl up my leg. This little chipmunk is greeting Lucy.









Before we left, Grandma bought Lucy a souvenir, a hat. We had a great time at the zoo!









One last picture before Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Bub headed back to Idaho Falls.

Testing the Water

One Sunday afternoon, Kimberlee gave us a tour of a condo that she made an offer on. She filled up the jetted tub, and Lucy tested it out. Lucy loved kicking her legs in the water. Kimberlee said that every time she takes a bath in that tub, she will think of her niece.

Visiting the Great-Grandparents

Before we moved, we spent time with the great-grandparents. On Sunday, we had a picnic with Great-Grandma Beri, Hunter, and Jonathan. Lucy loved being outside and playing on the picnic table. Hunter gave Lucy a stuffed dog that he won at Lagoon.





Great Grandma and Grandpa Covolo loved seeing Lucy. Great Grandpa even sat up and played with his Little Sunshine! Great Grandma fed her a bottle and made her giggle. Lucy rewarded them by showing them how she could get up on her hands and knees.

Experiencing New Things

Lucy has been having a lot of fun lately. She touches and tastes all sorts of new things every day. We wanted to post a few pictures for everybody to see. We thought you might like to enjoy these fun moments with all of us.


The other day we put Lucy in her swing. We thought she'd enjoy playing with her favorite bunny for a little while. We were wrong. She was more interested in the power chord of the lamp. Good thing the lamp was not plugged in and she was buckled into her swing.


Lucy is really enjoying experiencing new tastes and textures.


This was the first tomato out of our garden. Wouldn't you know it, Lucy had to have it.


When Lucy's not eating, she likes to pretend that she's eating. Here she is with lemon Jell-o. "Yumo" as Rachel Ray would say.


The other day, we went to Fiesta Days in Spanish Fork, UT. Lucy was such a good girl. She didn't wine at all, and it was HOT! I let her try a little bit of my tiger's blood snow cone. She liked it, but the cold temperature was a bit of a shock at first.
