Clearplay Opinion & Codes

For all those of you out there who own a Clearplay DVD Player and are interested, I've included some codes you can use to manage your player.

In my opinion, Clearplay's method for providing edited/clean movie viewing is an excellent concept. The way it works is the filters are loaded onto the player (more recently, onto a USB Thumb Drive that is then inserted into the player) which tell the disk where to edit the DVDs. So, there is no need to purchase edited DVDs. GREAT way to do it, I think. However, there is one major flaw. The flaw is that the players are made with poor quality. Everybody who I have known that has had a player has ended up with a player that doesn't work SOONER than later. And what good is a warranty if the product dies immediately after warranty is up anyways?

Supposedly they have discovered the problem of the poor quality in parts and have made changes in the manufacturing of their units (which come from China). My brother got one of these new units and it quit after a matter of a few months.

My advice is to wait until a better company comes along that is doing the same thing (as their customer service, particularly warranty repair is SLOW!!!) or just wait until you've heard numerous customer reviews in the positive of the new players.

Below are the codes:



From the clearplay menu, go to filter settings, enter 90210 (ok) to erase all filters.


From the clearplay menu, go to filter settings, enter 76419(ok) to reset the firmware. Clearplay on? Power it off, then unplug it for 10 minutes, plug it back in, go to the clearplay menu, and enter 76019, return, then browse. Then plug in the usb drive.


Please note, these directions come from notes I have taken from technical support. They may require you to figure out exactly what may be done, but they'll certainly steer you in the right direction if they aren't 100% accurate.
